Piezo button - how does it work?
Last Updated 5 years ago

Currently all light-for-me main light heads are equipped with piezo button.
The change from the previous head version, which was equipped with rotary magnetic switch, brought a few improvements:
- change of design, light heads got smaller
- no moving parts that could get seized up if not rinsed properly between the dives
- no magnetic elements, so no influence over compass

So how does it work?
Under the aluminium flat surface of the button there is a piezo-electrical element that generates a short impulse, lasting from 0.1 to 0.8 sec. This impulse switches on the electronics and connects the wires for the time of the impulse.
Pressing the piezo button with prolonged force does not make any sense, only the sudden change in dynamics works.
